Super tes tips!

Hey Frans,

This bit is of particular interest ! My tip : Take chances

The best eateries are often the most modest and shabby looking ones but never seem to be empty . From a huge canteen in Delhi to a small lama empanada shack in Salta , think local.
Lonely Planet is a fantastic book but it is always opened to abuse; I have witnessed recommended places to eat and sleep hiking up their prices and becoming complaisant on many occasions because they featured in the LP. Favour your gut instinct and take chances , remember that these guide books are only there as references , the real freedom is to get away from it all.
Recommended reading for the soul is undeniably Shantaram and Frans s recommendation " Snow Leopard. "
Sustainability is not just about pollution it is about your positive attitude.
Don t be dramatic it is all part of the journey

Hi Gyula, I love both your tips, in fact in most places for locals they give this tea for free and I always drink it! Great idea to mention that!

Good tips Francois! It's great you're evangelizing ways to travel as light for the planet as possible.

A few tips that come to mind now:

When your journey brings you to remote places, the wilderness, be sure to bring back all the trash that you took with yourself. Even if there are some infrequent bins, they are probably emptied rarely, so instead of using them just take all your trash back to civilization.

Talking about drinking: freshly brewed tea is sold at cheap in many places around Asia, it is very delicious and refreshing, while generally safe for travelers. A good way to cut down on bottled water.
